What is the weather forecast

What is a weather forecast? It is a guess by meteorologists about what kind of weather awaits us. Only they guess with the help of scientific methods and long-term observations. It must not be easy for them, poor guys, because often their forecasts do not come true. But for whom do they try so hard? Let’s take a look!

Who needs a weather forecast.

  • Airport – here meteorologists are looked upon as gods, because the safety and even lives of many people depend on them and their forecasts! I remember how our family was going to fly to the sea and our flight was delayed for 3 hours! How we were waiting for good news, you can’t imagine;
  • Agriculture – everything depends on the weather forecast, especially in our region with its harsh Siberian climate. My mother and grandmother keep a very close eye on it in order to do timely planting and harvesting at the dacha. In a large farm, everything is subject to this almighty forecast, the farmer’s fate depends on it;
  • People need a forecast – well, everything is clear here! How to dress tomorrow? Will it rain, snow, ice, wind? All these questions are very important! For example, I want curls on my head tomorrow (to walk without a hat), and the weather forecasters promise rain, or thunderstorms. Or going to the beach with my girlfriends, and they promise a cold snap…

How they used to determine the weather
It is good that we, modern people, we have very accurate methods of determining the weather. And 100 years ago it was determined by eye. They used different signs, for example:

  • If a cat washes its face, it means the weather will change, and if it hides its face under it, it means it will be frosty;
  • If the bird cherry blossoms, it will be a cold snap! That’s right! Here it blooms in early May, and immediately it gets very cold;
  • Sparrows bathe in dust – expect rain! I’ve already noticed it several times, sparrows don’t lie;
  • The starry sky promises good weather. Well, this is also true! There are countless omens in general, for any weather.
